Beginning Slovenian 101 (1) (Can be taken in the Fall semester)

-Slovenian pronunciation

-Greetings, goodbyes and other common phrases

-Verb to be and its use in different situations

-Other useful simple phrases and interactions

-Questions about things in singular (Who, what)

-Gender in Slovenian language

-First mention of direct object and it’s case with useful phrases

-Plural in dictionary and direct object form

-Vocabulary for food and drinks in addition to few useful phrases

-Most used verbs

-Time adverbs, talking about time, describing your day

-Repetition of verbs and adding certain aspects

-Vocabulary about health, well-being, body, etc.

-Past tense of the known verbs

-Repetition of everything and presentation of dialogues you are able to do and test.


Beginning Slovenian 102 (2) (Can be taken in Spring semester)

-Repetition of pronunciation

-Revisiting direct object and 4th case with a new use

-Negation and other uses of the 2nd case 

-Numbers in Slovenian language

-Store, market, buying vocabulary

-Vocabulary for restaurant and food

-Using the phrases we know and adding a few more

-Adding a few more verbs and use in plural

-Recap of prepositions and adding a new preposition (with) and 6th case

-Future tense and dialogues

-Reading and translating game

-Weather and neuter in Slovenian language

-Family and possession of things

-Holidays in Slovenia

-Answering questions and recap

-Answering additional questions and test.


Intermediate Slovenian 201 (1) (Can be taken in Fall semester)

-Repetition of pronunciation, last years knowledge and how to access all the units from before

-Additional adjectives and use of the verb to be

-New verbs and vocabulary to describe a person

-Events, hobbies etc.

-Personal pronouns in 4th case

-Prepositions and cases in the city (location)

-Use of the knowledge of phrases in the city

-Home and things related to it. Repetition of 4th and 2nd case with the movemend verbs and prepositions

-Other prepositions with movement

-A lahko + verbs at home. New adjectives and combination of our knowledge

-Conditional

-Understanding spoken Slovenian language

-Pronunciation (microphone needed)

-Slovenian perfective and imperfective verbs

-Reading and translating – strategies and use of internet tools.

-Recap and test


Intermediate Slovenian 202 (2) (Can be taken in Spring semester)

-Recap and charts of the previous semester

-Modal verbs and their use

-Colloquial language, dialects and other languages in Slovenian language

-Using simple sentences and combining them into complex and compound

-Many different reading materials

-New vocabulary and the use of TA

-Business Slovenian – Formal Slovenian language

-Listening unit

-Learning more about hotels and ordinal numbers

-Slovenia and sports with gerunds

-Additional verbs and arranging them in charts
